42nd for Baldwin

January 12, 2023

Starting from 79th place, BJ Baldwin was the only Team Toyo Tires driver with an afternoon start today meaning he was always going to arrive late. He was allowed to start stage 2 much higher than his finishing position in stage 1 because the elite racers are given one joker to allow them to bypass the much slower private teams. Having used this up in stage 2, he started way back down the order today following yesterday vapour lock problems.

Lying 84th in the general standings with more than 7 hours gap to the lead, its fair to say he wont be on the podium in 2014. However, anyone expecting ‘Ballistic’ to give up does not understand the competitive nature of the man. He will be pushing for the highest placing possible right up to Valparaiso a week on Saturday and with a higher start position tomorrow, he will have a ‘clearer’ field ahead of him than today. Expect fireworks!
